Germany is a great location to consider studying medicine due to the affordable fees and the abundance of opportunities available for doctors. Medical degrees in Germany are not divided into bachelors and masters but rather it is one complete program which takes roughly 6 years. Most programmes are taught in German, therefore proficiency in German (at least C1-level) would be a vital requirement. At the end of the programme, students need to complete a state examination (Ärztliche Prüfung) which would then allow them to be granted a license to practice medicine.
The programme consists of 3 stages.
Pre-clinical phase
Builds a basic foundation of concepts.
Clinical phase
Is the longest phase taught through practicals, lectures, internships and seminars.
Practical year
Involves hands-on clinical experience.
The third stage is followed by the state examination.
Prerequisites and requirements
All applicants require a secondary school leaving certificate.
Some schools may require a test known as Test für Medizinische Studiengänge (TMS).

GRE/GMAT
English proficiency to understand scientific literature
